These days, there's no way around this. You can argue that you have a memorable brand and a unique domain name. Nevertheless, users typically head to search engines first when they do their online product research. It could mean a loss of business if your users can find your competitor and not you.
2. Take time to select keywords: You choice of keywords matter. This is what you'll be optimising your web presence for so it should be keywords that your users would use to look for you. Select around five keywords to optimise for. For example, as an SEO company in Penrith, you will get much more qualified traffic and convert more leads by targeting the keywords "SEO Penrith" instead of just "SEO" in general.
3. Use both general and niche keywords: Yes, it is hard to rank high in general keywords. You are competing practically with the whole world for it. However, you should have both general and niche keywords when doing SEO. General keywords let users and search engines know that you are part of your industry. Niche keywords target specific searches that your target market are likely to use to narrow down search results. For example, let's say you're a car mechanic and specialise in aintaining and upgrading Jeeps. You can use '4X4 Jeep parts and accessories' as general keywords; then use 'jeep parts Pernith' as niche keywords to target the market in your city.
4. Be patient: It takes time to get the results that you want when optimising your web presence. 5. Stay clean when it comes to your optimisation efforts: There are shady practices in SEO. These practices deliver results fast - but these are temporary results. In most cases, the search engines catch on and penalise these erring sites. Keep your SEO efforts within accepted guidelines and standards.
